The Handmade Skirt Company began during the 2020 Covid pandemic when I discovered a love for sewing and a desire to create clothes for my daughters. I soon decided to turn this passion into a business and make everything at my home in Hexham, Northumberland. I love creating practical and easy to wear clothes which have been produced in an ethical and sustainable way. Everything I make uses 100 percent premium cotton and linen or repurposed vintage fabrics. I love sourcing unused vintage textiles and with a change of use making a one of piece of clothing and something which is once again appreciated. I up-cycle the smaller off cuts from the clothes to create hair accessories and yoga mat straps, amongst other items, utilising all but the tiniest scraps, helping me to create minimal waste.
